Identity & Promo Material

IDENTITY DESIGN  •  PROMO COLLATERAL

Developed the visual identity and promotional materials for Art of the Open Air, a free outdoor exhibition in Balboa Park, San Diego. The exhibition showcased seven modern sculptures from the Museum’s internationally recognized collection.

Inspired by Tony Rosenthal’s Odyssey III, the identity blended a youthful, approachable tone with a clean, modern aesthetic — helping to attract a broader audience while staying true to the Museum’s contemporary art vision.

Designed supporting materials, including event cards, to extend the brand experience on-site and beyond — increasing engagement and reinforcing visual consistency in public spaces.

About

Hi, I’m Chiaki — a visual designer based in sunny San Diego, California, originally from Gifu, a small city in central Japan where I grew up.

My approach to design is grounded in simplicity, clarity, and purpose. I believe that good design should not only look clean and modern, but also work seamlessly. Whether it’s a user interface or a brand identity, I focus on creating visual systems that are intuitive, functional, and easy to understand.

Design, to me, is about solving problems through thoughtful structure and minimalism — removing the unnecessary to let the essential speak.
